I am my mums youngest child and 8 years younger than my next sibling which meant my mum was always my play mate. Money was tight and mum couldn't afford to buy us the things she wanted too or afford to take us in holiday. Mum apologised to me once about the kind of life we had when i was a child and I said that I didn't remember not having enough but always remembered that my mum was always there to look after me and play with me. So here are some memories of that time -
Playing in my play pen while mum did the hoovering and entertaining me singing the Shake and Vac song from the advert.
Taking me to the shop before school for my daily sweet supply
Mum helping out at school with reading and cooking but me being jealous of the other children as she couldn't hear me read and I couldn't cook with her at school.
Mum always playing with me when I was little including playing a game called Go Fetch where you had to pretend to be a dog, bark and pant and go and look for hidden bones around the house on all fours bringing them back in your mouth. I knew she didn't like the game but she would always play it when I asked.
I was a terrible sleeper when I was aged 6-10 so I often ended up in bed with my mum with our dog at the end of the bed as a bed warmer. I was a proper fidget but mum never complained just tried to encourage me to try and stay in my own bed.
Mum was always fun and keen to help me learn and develop but sometimes didn't think too far ahead like the time she was teaching me how to ride a bike. She was holding on to the bike on a small slope to steady me and she let go and I went head first into a load of stinging nettles. Poor mum was so upset.
Thank for being such a good mum to me when I was young, for always looking after me, playing with me and for all the love, hugs and kisses
All my love always
